    Igor graduated with Honours from Moscow State Institute of International Relations, where he went on to earn his PhD in Economic Sciences. From 1995 to 2006 he gained further qualifications in Executive Development and Public Relations at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. 

    Igor teaches on a range of corporate training programmes at Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO. His professional and research interests include direct investment, asset management, risk management, geographical diversification and global business expansion, negotiations in an international business environment, interactions between business and government, and transforming economic potential into political influence. 

    Professor Gundobin is a member of the Russian Association of Independent Directors and a member of the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO Board of Directors. He also spent 22 years working with Russia’s Foreign Investment Advisory Council. 

    Igor has vast experience of leadership in international business. From 1995 to 1999 he worked as Director of Corporate Communications, Business Development and Legal Affairs at SUN Group, a diversified Indian private investment company with business interests in developing and transforming markets and 12,000 employees in over 15 regions of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. 

    In 2000, Professor Gundobin became Head of the Mission and then Managing Director of the SUN Group in Russia. He ran the company’s operations in Russia and the CIS for 17 years, actively participating in its investment activities, mergers and acquisitions, asset management, property and country risk control, corporate governance and investor protection.

    Igor Gundobin was a member of the Board of Directors of SUN’s portfolio companies and its private equity fund SUN Capital Partners, including JSC Klyuchevskoe, its Russian gold mining subsidiary SUN Gold Mining, and JSC Yubileinoe (Kazakhstan).

    With over 25 years of business development and corporate and government interactions, Professor Gudobin now works on various investment and business development projects in Russia, India and Africa and regularly lectures at Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO and elsewhere on geographical, cultural and ethnic nuances in doing business, as well as economic ties between Russia and India and the prospects for the Asia-Pacific region in business associations in Russia and abroad.
