Alexey Ulanovsky teaches and consults senior executives and conducts research on leadership and organizational behavior. He lectures in the Executive MBA program, executive coaching, and corporate programs at SKOLKOVO School of Management and leads strategic sessions and team diagnostics for top management.
He is the author of more than 80 publications in professional peer-reviewed journals and three books, including the bestseller Athletic CEOs: Leadership In Turbulent Times. Alexey has a particular interest in the strategic decisions of top executives during crises. He has conducted a series of relevant studies that have received positive feedback from the media and the business community, including Under Pressure: Leadership in New Realities (2022), What Has Changed? Strategies and Decisions of Top Executives in Russian Companies (2023) (in Russian). He was also involved in the INSEAD project for global research on board chairpersons (2016-2018). He is the creator of an original online course on Leadership and Influence in Organizations , recognized as the best online course of the year by SKOLKOVO in 2023. Alexey is a member of the Strategic Management Society and the Academy of Management.
Alexey earned a Candidate of psychological sciences degree in 2006 from Moscow State University and then combined applied organizational projects with teaching at Moscow State University and National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE). He has won numerous awards, including the Young Teachers and Scientists Competition for significant achievements in teaching and research at Moscow State University (2006), the High Professional Potential Group at HSE (2007-2009), the Oxford Russia Fund Prize, and the nomination for the top 10 best lectures in the "University, Open to the City" category at HSE (2013). He has been voted the best teacher at HSE six times based on student voting (2011-2016). He worked as a consultant for international consulting firms Ward Howell and Linkage Inc. (2013-2020) and is an expert for RBK, Harvard Business Review, and Forbes. He is an executive coach for international business schools INSEAD and CEIBS and is a certified PCC ICF coach and Stakeholder-Centered Coaching coach trained by Marshall Goldsmith.
