Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO is one of the leading business schools in Russia and the post-Soviet space. Founded in 2006 by leaders in the business community, SKOLKOVO was further established by Russian entrepreneurs, including founders of major companies and patrons representing the main sectors of the Russian economy.

This partnership made it possible to implement an ambitious idea: from a simple sketch, the School has grown to become Russia’s largest private management school.

Today, the support and attention of our founders and Board of Directors help the SKOLKOVO community continue to develop. In addition to training corporate managers, which is standard for most Russian and international business schools, SKOLKOVO has positioned itself as a management school that also covers the professional development of entrepreneurs and managers in the public and non-profit sectors.

How we Live and Work

  • How do we communicate with each other?
    • We don’t have an established chain of command. We shun cronyism but are polite and considerate to one another. When running into fellow colleagues, we always say hello, even if we don’t know each other personally. We are proud that we employ positive and kind people who never hesitate to say “thank you” to those who help and “congratulations” to those who achieve success. When asked, we always try to help each other out, remembering that we are one team working towards a common goal.
    • We in no way discriminate based on political beliefs, religion, nationality, or other such traits during the hiring, compensation, or promotion processes.
  • How do we communicate with clients and partners?
    • We build our relationships with clients and partners on the basis of mutual respect and long-term cooperation. Every client and partner is equally important to us.
    • We never discuss internal business issues in the presence of clients on the off chance doing so might accidentally create an unflattering impression of the school.
    • We never carelessly criticise colleagues or any of the school’s actions or business doings, as this undermines the our client’s view of and trust in us.
  • Cellphones
    • In today’s day and age, cellphones are an integral part of our lives. However, at SKOLKOVO, we make sure to never get distracted by calls or texts during business meetings and conferences. We respect each other’s time and do all we can to run our scheduled meetings as efficiently as possible. When waiting on an important call from a client or partner, we always notify our colleagues in advance so as not to appear impolite should that call come during a meeting.
  • E-mail
    • E-mail is the main method of communication both internally and with our clients and partners. We respond to emails in a timely manner. Even when we’re unable to provide the necessary information right away, we always respond to confirm we’ve received and are working on the sender’s question. This way we ensure our colleagues are never forced to call us to find out if their email has been received.
    • We all receive countless emails each and every day. So, we are always sure to keep this in mind when sending information and to think about whether our colleague really needs that information. We also never send private group messages. In keeping with good email practice, we always write a detailed and clear subject line, which helps us all save time.
    • We are confident that all SKOLKOVO employees adhere to high moral and ethical standards, but we would like to highlight that all offensive, violent, or pornographic communication is strictly prohibited.

  • Acceptable design
    • We always adhere to our corporate identity when it comes to the design of both internal and external documents. The school’s image and brand are important tools for achieving shared goals and objectives and are therefore used as effectively and appropriately as possible. Detailed information about SKOLKOVO’s corporate identity is always available on our internal portal.
  • Communicating with journalists
    • Our reputation is something we have always been proud of. Therefore, before making any comments to the press, we make sure to consult with our immediate supervisors and the PR team that manages press relations.
    • Our PR team is always ready to help us communicate with journalists.
  • What should I do if I am late for work or a meeting?
    • We are sympathetic to occasional lateness to work, as none of us is immune from unforeseen situations. Nonetheless, try to make sure that your lateness does not become the norm. If you are late, please do not forget to notify your colleagues and your immediate supervisor. It is important for us to know that you are all right! Also, let your colleagues know what you're doing, and don't forget to let them know when you will come to work and how you may be contacted during your absence.
    • We strive to never be late for conferences and business meetings, but if you feel that you are running out of time, do not forget to notify your colleagues that you will be late.
  • Conflict resolution
    • SKOLKOVO employs people of different views, faiths, nationalities, and temperaments. We believe that a close-knit team of these different and extraordinary personalities gives our school its main competitive advantage. We are always sure to avoid careless personal conflicts within our team, as this is unprofessional and destructive.
    • If there is ever a feeling of uncomfortableness or unresolvable conflict, we always recommend seeking support from immediate supervisors or our Ethics Committee. We always do everything to make all SKOLKOVO members feel they are part of a close-knit team.

  • Further questions
    • If there are any further questions or if anything is unclear, don’t hesitate to ask.
    • SKOLKOVO colleagues and supervisors are always glad to help!
